While musubi is traditionally a Japanese dish, Spam is an important food in Hawaii and so this has an island twist!

Ingredients

For this recipe, you'll need sticky rice, Spam, rice vinegar, seaweed, vegetable oil, and sesame oil plus my Spam musubi sauce.

Do you need a mold?

While it's easier to make with a plastic mold, this recipe shows you how to made it by hand instead.

Make Sauce

Mix together your Spam Musubi sauce and let your Spam slices marinate in it for 30 minutes.

Add Vinegar to Rice

Toss the sticky rice with the rice vinegar and let soak for 5 minutes.

Cut Seaweed

Cut 5 equal strips of seaweed and set aside. You'll be wrapping your musubi with them.

Fry Spam

Add oil to a pan and fry the Spam until it's slightly brown on both sides.

Shape Musubi

Using your hands, mold the rice into the shape of your Spam slice. Add Spam and wrap with seaweed.
