I’ve driven past Kahuku Farms dozens of times over the years. We’d always stop to grab their famous acai bowls or stock up on lilikoi butter for the pantry at home. But we’d never actually done the farm tour until our last trip.
And wow, I’ve been kicking myself for waiting so long.
My 12-year-old son and I had an 11:15am tour reservation on a Sunday morning. We got there right when they opened at 11am so we could poke around the gift shop and check out the cafe menu before our tour started.
The gift shop is packed with their homemade products. Lilikoi butter, lilikoi jelly, that insanely good lilikoi balsamic dressing, chocolate bars made from their own cacao, bath products, the whole deal.

How Much Does Kahuku Farms Tour Cost in 2026?
Adult tickets are $75 and keiki tickets are $50. Hawaii residents get a discount with the code “Support Local” at checkout. Adults pay $50 and kids pay $40.
You absolutely need to book in advance. Our Sunday morning tour was completely sold out.
What to Expect on the Kahuku Farms Grand Wagon Tour
The Grand Wagon Tour is exactly what it sounds like. You ride on a wagon pulled by a tractor through their working farm.
Our guide Ione was fantastic. He knew everything about the farm and made it interesting for both my son and me, which isn’t always easy with a tween.
Tours run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and last about 90 minutes. The pacing was perfect. Not too rushed, not too slow.
Here’s where things got really good: the tasting stops.
We stopped twice during the tour. The first stop was all about the fruit. Fresh-picked papaya, star fruit, passion fruit, and more.
They also had us try their lilikoi butter, lilikoi jelly, and this cucumber thing with their lilikoi balsamic that I’m still thinking about. Plus a drink sample that they sell in the cafe.
Fun fact we learned: papayas don’t actually grow on trees. The “trunk” is just a thick hollow stem. My son thought that was wild.
Then we rode through field after field learning about all the different crops they grow. The whole farm has been feeding Hawaii for over 100 years, and you can tell they really care about sustainable farming.
The Chocolate Tasting Stop (This Is the Best Part)
The second stop was in the cacao field, and this is where my son almost lost his mind.
We learned how chocolate goes from fruit to chocolate bar. We tasted the actual cacao fruit, which is surprisingly sweet and tropical tasting. Then we tried their dark chocolate and milk chocolate.
But here’s where it got next level. They peeled fresh apple bananas, drizzled them with hot fudge sauce, and topped them with crumbled macadamia nuts.
It was so good that my son actually went back for seconds. And this is a kid who usually turns his nose up at fruit.

What to Wear to Kahuku Farms
I wore a dress and flip flops and was totally fine. But most people on our tour wore closed-toe shoes, pants, and either a sweatshirt or rain jacket.
My son regretted not bringing his sweatshirt because it was cooler than he expected.
The North Shore can be breezy and a bit cooler than other parts of Oahu, especially in the morning. Dress in layers and you’ll be good.
Kahuku Farms Cafe and Products You Need to Try
As soon as the tour wrapped up, we made a beeline for the cafe. Those acai bowls are legendary for a reason.
They grow their own acai berries right there on the farm, and you can actually taste the difference. The flavors just pop because they don’t use a ton of preservatives.
We also grabbed our usual stash of lilikoi products. The lilikoi butter is perfect on toast, the jelly is great for PB&J sandwiches, and that balsamic dressing is ridiculous on salads.
You can order these products online through their website if you don’t want to wait until your trip.
The cafe menu has paninis, pizzas, smoothies, and more. Everything is made with produce from the farm. It’s actual farm to table.
Is Kahuku Farms Good for Kids?
This tour works for basically everyone. There was a preschooler on our tour who loved it, but I think the sweet spot is elementary and middle school aged kids.
They’re old enough to actually appreciate what they’re learning but still young enough to get excited about tasting weird fruits and chocolate.
Couples would love it too. Solo travelers. Honestly, if you like learning where your food comes from and you’re not afraid of getting a little adventurous with tropical fruit, you’ll have a good time.

How to Build a Perfect North Shore Oahu Day Trip
I always tell families during my Hawaii travel consultations that Kahuku Farms pairs perfectly with a few other North Shore activities.
Here’s what I’d do: Hit the farm tour in the morning. Then drive to Laniakea Beach (Turtle Beach) to see sea turtles basking in the sun.
The best time to spot them is between 11am and 3pm, so the timing works out perfectly. Just remember to stay at least 10 feet away from the turtles. They’re protected and you can get fined for getting too close.
After turtle watching, head to Haleiwa for shopping and lunch. The town is full of cute boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. And you have to get shave ice. It’s non-negotiable.
