Hawaii Travel with Kids: KAUAI

Kauai is one of my favorite islands. It’s the first Hawaiian island I visited and I’ve been back more than 30 times.

Known as the “Garden Island,” Kauai is the ultimate island for families who want a slower pace with an emphasis on outdoor adventures, organic produce, and small town charm.

Kid-Friendly Kauai Resorts

This luxury resort in Poipu has freshly renovated rooms, a championship golf course, 6 restaurants, a spa, a kids club, and several incredible pools.
This beachfront resort in Koloa offers guest rooms and two-bedroom villas. They have outdoor pools, children’s pool and whirlpool spas.

Enjoy one of the largest family-friendly pools in Hawaii and enjoy breathtaking beachfront views at the Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort on Kalapaki Beach.

Things to do on Kauai with Kids

Join a small group tour and hear the legends of Madame Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes. You’ll also see one of the world’s most active volcanoes.
Want to explore underwater without getting wet? Join a submarine tour and see fish and other sea creatures just off the Kona Coast.
Travel 12 miles down the Kona Coast to the Captain Cook monument while learning secrets of the Big Island from a local historian. Plus, enjoy a Hawaiian-style buffet dinner with live entertainment and watch the sunset.
