Waikiki FAQs

What should we pack on our trip to Waikiki?

The warm weather means you should pack your summer attire. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweater for the evenings. Suits and ties are rarely worn here. Sandals and some good walking shoes are a good idea too.

Do we need a car to get around?

If you’re planning to stay in Waikiki, you can get around by shuttle, tour bus, taxi, or Hawaii’s excellent public transportation system. If you plan to experience Oahu outside of Waikiki, you should consider renting a car.

Is there a lot of coral in the water on Waikiki Beach? Should we bring reef shoes just to swim?

It really depends on where you are swimming. The beach area is all sand. if you go out past the wall you will need them. It is better to have them than to not have them.
