There are some desserts that can instantly transport you to another time and another place. For me, that’s this chocolate haupia pie.

Our family loves exploring Oahu when we visit Hawaii with our kids. We drive all over the island to play at beaches, watch surfers, and try new foods.

The North Shore of Oahu is one of those iconic places in Hawaii that is absolutely worth a stop. It’s known as the surfing capital of the world and it’s a really cool mix of nostalgia and hipster.

One of the most popular places to eat on the North Shore is Ted’s Bakery. While they make a fantastic plate lunch, they are most famous for their Hawaiian pies.

Out of all of their incredible pies, I think my favorite is their chocolate haupia pie. It’s the perfect mix of their chocolate and coconut cream pies. We love getting a slice to share at the restaurant and then grabbing a pie to bring back to enjoy throughout our trip!

It’s been awhile since we’ve been able to visit the North Shore, so I decided to try to recreate our Hawaii vacation by making this chocolate haupia pie for my family. Enjoy!
